BEEP BEEP BEEP! BEEP BEEP BEEP! BEEP BEEP BEEP!

Rubbing the sleep from your eyes, you threw the clock towards the wall, barely masking your annoyance. Hearing the audible crack, you were jolted out of your sleeping state and your eyes flew open.

Being the unwilling person to get up that you were, you flopped down back onto the bed, and cast your gaze on the floor, seeing the clock lying face-up on the floor and you crawled towards it. Sitting on the floor next to it, you flipped the clock to see the face cracked again. Shaking it, you found that the hands were twitching meekly. Sighing, you rose from the floor, and dragged your feet to the adjourning bathroom.

After brushing your teeth thoroughly, you splashed water all over your face to remove the sleep from your eyes. Mainly to wake yourself up, and wake you up it did for you finally noticed the ticking clock hands settling themselves on twelve.

Letting out a shriek, you ran to your closet and grabbed a figure-hugging white tee, then a grey knitted shawl that bared a triangle of your midriff. Snatching the first scarf you saw, then, you hopped into a pair of skinny jeans, rushed and got a pair of sunglasses that were lying somewhere in the mess of the room to top off the look. You went to your front door * and pulled a pair of long boots on with quite some heel and fur lining the edge. With a bit of fiddling with the straps, you buckled the pair of boots, feeling ready to venture outside.

Stuffing your phone in your back pocket, you ran out of the house. Fluffy snow was falling gently. Pulling the hood from the shawl, you then realized just how terribly underdressed that you were.

The world was spinning around you. Smiling at the sight of snow, you were reminded of your best friend and crush, Matthew Williams. And you were late for the meeting that you arranged.

Rushing, you arrived at Mattie’s place in five minutes, you banged on the door, only to realized that the snowfall was so thick that the door was completely blocked. Sighing, you knocked on his window.

Matthew's POV

I heard a constant rapping on the door but I didn't open it. I’m completely snowed in again, not that I mind- I am always stuck like this so I always get a book and read in front of the warm and cozy fireplace. I didn't know why _________________was running late though. She usually is so punctual!

The knocking on the door ceased and I heard a hard knock on the window. Looking up from my book, I saw _________________ knocking on the window. My heart skipped a beat when I saw how did she look- so beautiful and yet so casual at the same time. That gorgeous smile, her big (e.c) eyes, everything was picture perfect.

So I opened the window for her entrance.

Your POV:

Matthew opened his window. It was big one, so you had no problem climbing in. Landing with an ungraceful thud on the cold wooden floor, you rubbed your head ruefully after hitting it slightly on the floor. When you looked up, you saw those hypnotizing lilac orbs looking worriedly at you.

Your face flushed, you picked yourself off the floor hurriedly, dusting yourself off and closed the window.

You clasped your hands behind you, twiddling your fingers. Smiling hesitantly, you then cast your eyes around Mattie’s house. Seeing a red and white striped overcoat with a maple leaf as a pattern, you grabbed that, looked at Mattie and put it on for him.

Smiling sweetly, you grabbed the scarf that you were wearing and slid it off your neck, and tied it around his neck snugly.

You took a few steps back and you admired your handiwork. Pretty good for last minute.

“So where are you taking me?” Matthew asked you with just those oh so innocent eyes.

You leaped up to open the window. After one more jump, you were balanced precariously on the windowsill in a crouch with one hand above your head, supporting the window, with the other hand grasping onto the sill.

Never letting go of the window above your head, you shifted into a more comfortable position and reached out a hand to Mattie. After he accepting your hand, you jumped out, still holding onto the window to prevent it from falling on your precious Matthew. When the two of you were out in line of fire for snowflakes, you let go of the window, letting it close with an almighty CRASH!

Remembering something, you looked at Matthew hesitantly and asked, “Matthew, did you bring a key?”

“No. Why?”

Giving a sheepish grin, you pointed to the only means of entrance- the window.

Matthew gave a tiny smile, showing that he didn't mind.

After letting out a breath that you didn't notice that you were holding in, you clasped your hand firmly around Matthew’s and dragged him off to where ever you were planning to take him. And towards the forest next to Mattie’s house was the direction that you took him in.

~Fifteen minutes later after the little ‘jog’ you took Mattie on~

Finally arriving at the base of a cliff, you bent over, breathing hard. Mattie was a couple seconds later than you at arriving, nearly crashing into you because you were still holding his hand in a tight grip.

With the snow falling gently around, it was like a fairytale come true, with everything just the way you wanted.

You went nearer to the base of the cliff, and plucked a few larkspur flowers out of the powdery snow and held them out happily.

“Matthew! Your eyes are as pretty as these larkspur flowers!” you chirped happily.

What you had yet to realize was that a lot of snow had gathered, and it was about to fall off the cliff. Hearing something and seeing Matthew’s shocked expression, you looked up and gave an ear-splitting scream which jolted Matthew out of his senses.

He ran to you and pushed you away, just as the snow hit him. You were safe but Matthew was buried under piles of snow. More and more snow started to fall and you could only fumble with your phone.

When you finally reached the hospital line, you choked out what happened. After giving them the location, an ambulance rushed to where you were, with you just sitting there stunned.

The doctors dug the snow and found Matthew unmoving, his face tinged with blue, looking sickly and pale. You let out a gasp at his dishevelled appearance. Holding back a sob, you followed the doctors carrying him on the stretcher. A nurse helped you to walk up the stairs, with you stumbling up the stairs, your vision going in and out of focus, nothing was clear anymore.

Matthew’s breathing grew more and more shallow, with it nearly stopping at times, only to let out a long exhale. You stayed by his side until the ambulance reached the hospital.

The doctors rushed Matthew into ICU, with you left outside the doors, desperately trying to see what was happening. The doctors had barely started but Matthew was on the brink of death. His lips shaped four words then he let out a deep exhale. His last breath.

You collapsed onto the hospital floor.

One of the doctors came out and tried to console you, telling you that it wasn't your fault, and they were sorry that they couldn't save him.

You drowned all that out, only focusing on the last four words that Matthew mouthed.

I love you ________

If this was a fairytale, Matthew would be alive, he would have been saved by the doctors, everything would be perfect, you would tell Matthew that you shared his feelings, and you two would start to date and become a happy couple.

That is, if it was a fairytale.

But this isn’t a fairytale.

If only it was a fairytale.
